Exposé général

Il y a des indications selon lesquelles les personnes lesbiennes, gaies, bisexuelles, transsexuelles, transgenres, bispirituelles, intersexuelles et queers (LGBTTBIQ) peuvent présenter des taux plus élevés de consommation de substances. Par conséquent, ces personnes pourraient être plus vulnérables aux problèmes de consommation que la population en général. Il faut toutefois faire preuve de prudence dans l'application de ces constatations à un vaste groupe de personnes qui représenteraient, selon les estimations, 10 % de la population. De plus amples recherches sur cette population, en particulier sur les personnes LGBTTBIQ canadiennes, sont nécessaires.
